Cleaning up the house a bit – v1.2.1

Clean up the houseSimpleX theme now comes with a cleaner code. Since 1.2 release yesterday, I took sometime to clean the codes so it is much easier to customize if anyone needs to. SimpleX is now passed the xHTML and CSS validation. There is a separate CSS sheet for IE6/7. IE 8 Beta 2 seems to work well with the normal CSS (what a relief, IE no more seems to need hacks). It has been now tested with IE6, IE7, IE8 Beta 2, FF2, FF3, Safari 3.2 and Chrome 0.4.

The structure of CSS files have now improved. The main ‘theme’ CSS files reside inside CSS folder. This is to make sure that future upgrades are easy to make instead of searching for keys in a 1000+ lines of style.css. Suppose I want to add another color scheme, I can simply go and duplicate the css/default.css and create a new one and add that name to functions.php. Voila, its just colors so its faster and more simpler.

The navigation with Older / Newer entries has a block feel now to show the consistency with Read More link. Well, its cleaner on my eyes too.

I have also remove the flickr gadget code for now as it was acting weird on me. I will fix that on my next updates and put that back on to the site.

  1. The timezone is complicated. This side of the world is 14 hrs ahead of the server time so even though this post was made on Dec 8, it still shows Dec 7. I need to change the time settings. :)
