Since the release of simpleX on the WordPress theme site, there has been an overwhelming response and I am encouraged to update simpleX and make it more usable. Thank you all who have downloaded the theme just to preview it or use it on your personal blog. I would love to see people posting any issues or even their sites with this theme just to showcase on here. Yes, you are free to make any changes you want to the theme.
So, what does v1.2 update include?
As you can see, the major update is simpleX now comes with Theme Options. Oh YEAH! I have heard that somewhere. I have been dying to use theme options for WordPress and it couldn’t come earlier than this. The only option right now is you can choose from 3 pre-defined styles for your blog.
- Simple Default – The default black and white theme (original).
- Simple Autumn – Yes, its winter already but I found this color scheme and wanted to try it out.
- Simple WordPress – Oh Yeah! I always loved the wordpress color scheme and wanted to try that too. Besides, I do not prefer the default WordPress theme that comes with the installation. So, for people who are looking for THE NEW DEFAULT WordPress inspired color scheme, you might want to try that.
I will be updating the theme with more Theme Options later. Besides Theme Options, simpleX also has some typography changes. It now looks much better and I personally feel its more usable.
I have also cleaned out CSS a bit (still more needed) with separate independent CSS files. Now, the structure lies in the style.css file and the custom CSS for different styles lies in different CSS files thus making it easy to anyone who wants to change color scheme or create their own CSS.
Since simpleX is my first tryout of a professional theme, there might be bugs, errors. I have tried my best to test it out and minimize them but in case you find that out one, please do post it here or on the WordPress forums.

hi, nice theme. im trying to change the name and description of blog for a logo. but when i put the cursor in the logo appears a backgorund-color… how can i fix this? thanks
Try changing the colors inside css/default.css file. They are all there.
Hi – How can I change the name of the home page from “home” to something else?
find header.php and change this line

Its near the bottom of that page.

Thanks for the theme! I am new to WordPress and web design in general, and chose your theme as a springboard for a custom website. The site is still under construction and I’m working out some of the styling (drop downs, specifically) but I hope you like it! I know it doesn’t much resemble where it started, but I thought you might like to see how I ran with it.
The website I’ve referenced is for a friend and client; there won’t be any $ changing hands, but I’d like to know if it for the future your thoughts on that? I’ve decided I’m going to use WordPress for my CMS, and I’m not sure about copyrights and credits and all that.
That being said, I left the simpleX credit in there because that’s what I started with… but if you want me to take it out because it’s not really representative of the theme let me know! If I’ve offended or misused your code in some way, rest assured it was unintentional and I will correct it immediately.
Overall, I have found your code to be very clean, well organized, well commented, easy to use, etc. I hope to design themes too… being self taught I am always happy when I can recognize a good code example to follow! Thanks for taking the time to design this theme and follow up by making improvements.

Could you add something to make it easy to flip in an image as a header? I know I could change the code and dot it myself but would be nice not to mess with the code when the theme works so well right now. Best would be a background file to add to the header so the title could still show over it, with the link.
