Well Yeah…
I have been procastinating for so long to learn to make themes in WordPress and launch this site populating with couple of themes I had in mind. But needless to say, its really been 2 long months and I have done nothing.
I have also been looking for books & resources but I haven’t found one good site to refer to. Maybe I am too lazy to stare at the monitor and read all those texts. But today, I have been refreshed! I just thought it is never going to happen if I just wait for good books or resources. Man it will take ages.
Then I went back to history. I have read a lot of blogs, articles time and again to get some inspiration. 37signals, Seth Godin are some that come to my mind right now. They have the experience and its always good to learn from them.
I recalled the phrase “Launch Early and Often”. Yep, I have known this fact and I know everything starts with simple, small things. Most of us probably don’t want to do things we have dreamt of because we always have big things in mind and of course all the excuses why not to do it.
So, I got my ass off my chair and went straight to WordPress Theme Development section (which I earlier bookmarked). I had gone through this earlier and made a couple of sites with WordPress but they were just try outs and not a professional theme. Nevertheless, it was well worth going through the documents once again and it was much easier and faster.
I planned to do a theme that only uses the style.css file.
This was really interesting as I only had to work on one file. So, I moved on editing stuff. And then things grew. I am in the middle of finalizing my first official WordPress Theme called simpleX. I will tell more about it later but for now I am just happy to launch this website. And if you have guessed, it is using the simpleX theme.
Yep, there are lot of issues and I will be fixing them very soon. So until then, I gotta get back to work!
