Okay that was way too quick for an announcement I guess, when I had already mentioned that it might be ready in a few weeks on the previous post. But what the heck! I am just too excited sometimes and wanted to give the new theme away instead of putting in the back-burner and only releasing it when everything is ready.

simpleX, as the name suggests, is a simple, clean and minimalist WordPress theme.
Yesterday
This theme is my first official WordPress theme. I created this theme to learn (at first place) and only by changing the default WordPress CSS style. But as it developed, I had few things that I wanted to change. Then I tweaked the codes at a few places. I released simpleX 1.0 and listed out at official WordPress theme page on December 1, 2008. I was surprised at the statistics WordPress provided. Because of the overwhelming response and listed as top 20 themes at WordPress, I was inspired to make updates to it.

Today
It now supports WordPress 2.7+ and commented threads. This site is also using simpleX so you are already previewing the theme. Please feel free to browse around and download the theme if you like it.

Future is always uncertain, as they say. I am not sure what I will do with simpleX in future. I have a few ideas in mind but again, I want to develop few other themes. If there is a significant amount of response with simpleX, I will keep on updating it otherwise, I will call it a theme and move on with other cool themes. Nevertheless, feel free to ask questions, give suggestions or post comments about simpleX on the comments section.

Next Free Theme – Rockstar

Just to give you a small hint on what I will be working on next. Rockstar is the theme name I have given. This theme will be primarily used for my own band’s (Nissim) website. Its like killing 2 birds with 1 stone (as they say). The features that I have included are pretty much required for every band and I am sure those who are searching for good looking rockstar theme for their bands will definitely benefit from this free theme. I will update on it more later..

simpleX is now version 1.1. The page level (menu) has been fixed so now you can add sub pages without a glitch. Here you can see 4 levels of menu.

UPDATE: Its now version 1.2.1 and tested with WordPress 2.7. Please download the new version. Also see Update Notes 1.2 and 1.2.1.
As mentioned in my earlier post, I have fixed a few bugs and I guess its now ready for release. There might be some issues but I will only know that when you can provide me some feedback. As I told you, this is not a perfect theme. I am just using this opportunity to learn to make WordPress themes. But, this theme is definitely usable if you are looking for clean, elegant design. Nothing complex!
